Our Programs

CityScience connects science education to urban environments with place-based programming for students, teachers, schools, and communities. CityScience programs are designed to improve PreK-12 science education and inspire meaningful exploration of urban environments.  We offer:

  • Student Courses are taught on site at PreK-12 public schools, after-school settings, early education centers, and summer camps.
  • Teacher Training supports teacher excellence through professional development, teacher coaching, and a Summer Institute.
  • School Partnerships are long-term collaborations between schools and CityScience to strengthen and integrate school-wide curricula around science themes.
  • Community Partnerships provide customized curricula, educational programming, and trained instructors for parks, conservancy groups, and community-based organizations.

All programs emphasize hands-on exploration of urban environments and seek to integrate academic standards in science with other subjects. CityScience promotes a differentiated instructional approach that is flexible and accommodates a range of learning styles. Through our programs youth learn to think critically and develop the ability to address academic and life challenges with the confidence and tools they need to succeed and make a difference in the world.

It's one thing to read about science in a book, but the light bulb goes on when kids get involved in a
hands-on project.
