This program is designed to support students preparing for the Earth Science Regents exam.  Topics include mineral identification, rock exploration, soil properties, glacial history, topographic mapping, and weather.

Food and the Big Apple

This program follows our food from soil to plate, introducing students to the components of an urban food system. Students explore issues of agriculture, food processing, and nutrition. Projects include a community food assessment and designing a menu for a healthy, sustainable restaurant.

Environmental Mapping

Environmental maps are used by scientists, urban planners and community activists to understand and solve complex problems. In this session educators are introduced to ways of mapping and evaluating the environmental health of the neighborhood. Educators learn how to us water and soil pH testing and noise and tree health evaluations to help students understand human impact on the urban environment.
