Toolbox for Education Grant, Spring 2012 Cycle
Lowe’s
$2,000 - $5,000
Lowe’s will donate $5 million to schools for projects that have a permanent impact such as facility enhancement (both indoor and outdoor) as well as landscaping/clean up type projects. Projects that encourage parent involvement and build stronger community spirit will be favored. More than 1,000 different schools will benefit.

Outstanding Earth Science Teacher Award
National Association of Geoscience Teachers

Outstanding Earth Science Teacher (OEST)awards are given for “exceptional contributions to the stimulation of interest in the Earth Sciences at the pre-college level.” Any teacher or other K-12 educator who covers a significant amount of earth science content with their students is eligible. Ten national finalists are selected, one from each NAGT regional section. Some sections also recognize state winners. Individuals may apply themselves or nominate a colleague for the award.

Save the World Through Science and Engineering

The Toshiba America Foundation gives up to and over $5,000 to math and science teachers (grades 6-12) in public and private schools. Funds will be given to teachers who engage students in positive and challenging learning experiences. Past successful grantees have used their students’ natural curiosity and enabled them to frame their own scientific questions. Applications for less than $5,000 are accepted on a rolling basis. Applications for more than $5,000 are due at the above dates.

U.S. Department of Education
On September 29, 2011, the U.S. Secretary of Education opened the pilot year of the Green Ribbon Schools award to recognize the highest performing green schools in the nation. The recognition award recognizes exemplary achievement in environmental impact, health and education. The standards and resources that the award relates advance the complementary aims of cutting schools’ costs, saving jobs; fostering health, wellness and productivity; providing a well-rounded education, increasing STEM skills, and ensuring students’ college and career preparedness.
